Overview of Expectations

EVALUATIONS:

Throughout the student teaching semester, Teacher Candidates will be evaluated by their Mentor Teacher and University Supervisor using three documents:1. The Observation Feedback Form (formative)2. The Teacher Summary Evaluation Form, and3. The Dispositions Evaluation Form. Each document contains criteria used to evaluate the progress Teacher Candidates are making to meet state standards.
Observations Feedback Form: Completed as a formative evaluation twice each 8 weeks by the Mentor Teacher [MT] and University Supervisor [US] for a total of four (4) formal observations each eight weeks.

For each formal observation the Teacher Candidate is required to submit a full Lesson Plan to the formal observer (Mentor Teacher or University Supervisor) at least three (3) days before a lesson is formally observed. (This may be modified with the approval of the Mentor Teacher and/or University Supervisor.) If the Lesson Plan is complete in its entirety, then it will be assumed the Teacher Candidate is prepared to teach and the formal observation will take place

If the Lesson Plan is NOT completed in its entirety, the Teacher Candidate should expect the Mentor Teacher (and University Supervisor) to cancel the formal observation, establish a new observation date, discuss issues associated with the cancellation, and develop a plan of action for improvement.

Teacher Summary Evaluation Form: Completed by the Mentor Teacher and University Supervisor at the end of each 8-week student teaching field experience or at midterm and end of a 16-week placement.

Dispositions Form: Completed as part of a mid-term evaluation and a final evaluation by the Mentor Teacher and University Supervisor at the end of each 8-week student teaching field experience or at mid-term and end of a 16-week placement.
